What do we do?

The VICCIY Project takes a holistic approach to promoting the well-being of Indigenous youth. We focus on enhancing access to culturally responsive care, preserving Indigenous languages and traditions, and developing tailored resources using virtual reality (VR) technology to meet the unique needs of youth in rural, remote, and northern communities.

Our Mission

Our mission is to enhance the well-being of Indigenous youth by integrating virtual reality technology with cultural practices. Through innovation and community collaboration, we strive to support the mental, emotional, spiritual and physical health of Indigenous youth in ways that honour their traditions. We strive to provide equitable access to mental health and wellness resources, eliminating geographical barriers while fostering opportunities for youth to reconnect with their heritage and strengthen their well-being.

Our Vision

Our vision is to transform mental health and wellness care for Indigenous youth by merging virtual reality technology with traditional healing and knowledge. Through immersive, culturally grounded experiences, we seek to offer Indigenous youth the pathways to reclaim their sense of agency, purpose, and well-being.

Our Logo

Chris Chipak, a Plains Cree artist from Red Pheasant Cree Nation, designed the VICCIY logo to reflect the core of our mission and vision.

Community Connections

We hosted Provincial Youth Wellness Summits in October 2023 and May 2025, bringing together students from the communities listed below to connect, celebrate culture, and explore new ways to support their mental health. If your school or community is interested in joining the VICCIY Initiative, we’d love to hear from you—please reach out!
